Claire and Kurt planned a romantic elopement in the castle near Aberdeen but unfortunately, the one they originally chose had been sold when they were at the beginning stages of planning their elopement in Scotland. They had to change the venue. This time their choice fell on Fyvie Castle – a beautiful castle with interiors full of history, and rich and warm colours.
Claire and Kurt prepared for their elopement at Meldrum House, around 15 minutes by car from the castle, where they had the ceremony. They both love interiors that are beautifully and tastefully decorated. This is where I met them.
Claire was in the process of doing makeup and writing vows. Kurt was about to change into a suit. A taxi was waiting for him. When he left, we took the beautiful, romantic wedding dress out of the cover and hung it on the wardrobe door. Kurt hasn’t seen her yet. Meanwhile, Claire packs the rest of their clothes. Immediately after the ceremony at the castle, they both planned to go to Edinburgh. When everything was packed, I helped her change into a dress. I buttoned the back of my dress, helped with the veil, and we drove to the Fyvie Castle.
I saw this castle from the outside. I’ve never been inside. As we entered the main door, I was speechless. Each castle has such a special atmosphere that is intertwined with history, decor, and every addition. As I wrote in the introduction, Claire and Kurt dreamed of an elopement in a castle that delights with warm and vivid colours. They were not disappointed. The ceremony took place in a chamber at the very top. And refreshments in the dining room two floors below. The rest of the time was spent exploring the castle and several chambers.
