Godfather’s theme wedding at Castello Xirumi in Sicily – Diana & Saša
Wedding at Castello Xirumi in Sicily.
Castello Xirumi – one of the most beautiful wedding venues in eastern Sicily.
Diana and Saša were drawn to Castello Xirumi because it felt less polished and more alive. Somewhere with character, texture, and a sense of ease to it.
The greenery surrounding the space, the rose-covered arch at the entrance, the scent of jasmine in the air, everything felt naturally beautiful without needing too much added to it.
What they loved most was how many different corners the venue offered. Every part of it felt slightly different, giving the whole day a sense of movement and atmosphere as it unfolded.
It felt relaxed, full of charm, and completely in line with the kind of wedding they wanted to create.
Visually, they were drawn to bold compositions, cinematic framing and a more theatrical approach to certain moments, balanced with everything still feeling natural and grounded throughout the day.
The vibe of Diana and Saša’s wedding in one of the best wedding venues in Eastern Sicily.
The overall atmosphere of the wedding was heavily inspired by old Sicilian cinema, vintage gangster films, and the bold visual world of Tarantino.
Both Diana and Saša are huge fans of films like “Pulp Fiction” and “The Godfather”, which naturally shaped the feeling they wanted to create throughout the day. Not in a themed or costume-like way, but through mood, styling, contrast, and energy.
Castello Xirumi fit that vision perfectly. The old stone walls, dramatic interiors, palm trees, warm evening light, and slightly raw character of the venue already carried that timeless Sicilian feeling on their own.
A lot of their inspiration came from cinema, but also from the work of Omer Gilony and imagery that felt emotional, stylish, and full of atmosphere rather than overly polished.
Castello Xirumi – one of the best wedding venues near Catania in Sicily.
Castello Xirumi is one of those wedding venues that feels beautiful without trying too hard.
Tucked away in Eastern Sicily, it has this balance of elegance and warmth that’s hard to find. The interiors are full of texture and character: faded walls, old stone, soft light moving through the rooms, antique details that never feel overly polished. It feels lived in, which gives the whole place a kind of ease.
Outside, the grounds open up into palms, greenery, and hidden corners that constantly shift with the light throughout the day. The palm trees are one of my favourite parts of the venue, they instantly give everything that slower, southern Italian atmosphere that feels relaxed but still incredibly cinematic.
What makes Castello Xirumi stand out is how many different settings it offers without ever feeling disconnected. Courtyards, gardens, stone archways, long dinner tables under the trees, every part of the venue feels intentional and naturally photogenic without needing much added to it.
It’s the kind of place that works especially well for weddings focused on atmosphere, shared dinners, long evenings outside, and a more intimate experience overall.
Choosing the right photographer for their wedding in Eastern Sicily was just as important to Diana and Saša as finding the right venue.
They knew from the beginning that they didn’t want the wedding to feel overly produced or surrounded by a large team directing every moment. What mattered more was creating an atmosphere where everyone could simply be present and enjoy the celebration naturally.
What drew them to our approach was the balance between photography and filmmaking, while still keeping everything intimate and unobtrusive. Being able to combine digital photography, film photography, and Super 8 as a small team made the whole experience feel more relaxed and personal throughout the day.
They were also looking for someone with a flexible visual approach: blending documentary moments with more cinematic, editorial-inspired imagery when it felt right. Something that could hold both the rawness of the day and the bold, cinematic atmosphere they were naturally drawn to.
