Epic Isle of Skye Elopement Photographer – Rebecca & Iain, Sligachan, The Quiraing

Scotland is famous for its rapidly changing weather. As the Isle of Skye elopement photographer, who travels all around Scotland, I can confirm it. It rains for a while, soon the sun will come out, the sky will be covered with clouds, windy … But from time to time it will go wild. As it was during Rebecca & Iain’s Isle of Skye elopement some stormy Sunday. I got used to Scottish weather, especially Rebecca & Ian, who have been living on the Isle of Skye for a long time. But it was my first elopement on the Isle of Skye (and Scotland in general) during stormy weather.

Rain poured in streams from the sky, strong and cold wind, and riverbeds filled with water flowing from the highest peaks of the Isle of Skye. And they, Rebecca & Iain, bravely held hands and said the words of the oath.

TIPS FOR YOUR ELOPEMENT FROM THE ISLE OF SKYE ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER

The weather in Scotland, particularly on the Isle of Skye, can change quickly, and even in the summer months, it can be chilly and wet. Preparing for the Scottish weather is essential for a successful and enjoyable elopement on the Isle of Skye. Here are some tips:

  1. Dress for the weather: Bring clothes that are warm, waterproof and comfortable. Layers are your best friend! It’s a good idea to pack a waterproof jacket or poncho as well. If you’re not sure what to pack, research weather patterns for the season you are visiting.
  2. Have a plan B: Create a backup plan in case the weather doesn’t cooperate. Research alternative indoor venues, and speak to your planner or venue manager beforehand to see if they have an indoor space that you can use if the weather turns bad. If it’s possible change the location for your ceremony and the couples photoshoot.
  3. Bring appropriate footwear: Wear sturdy, waterproof shoes or boots, especially if you plan on exploring some of the scenic trails on the Isle of Skye. Also, pack an extra pair of shoes and socks just in case your first pair of shoes get soaked.
  4. Hire an Isle of Skye elopement photographer: A professional photographer will be familiar with the weather conditions of the Isle of Skye and can help you take advantage of the weather to capture stunning photos.
  5. Consider the time of year: If you’re planning your elopement for the winter months, the weather is much colder and much harsher. Plan accordingly.

By preparing for the unpredictable Scottish weather, you can ensure that you won’t be caught off guard, and you can focus on enjoying your elopement on the Isle of Skye. The most important thing is to remember that the weather is part of the experience and, if embraced, can create unique and memorable photoshoots.
