In Malta every time
I look around me
I see the sea looking at me
with his blue eye.
To be honest, we have not thought about visiting Malta at all, it was not on our bucket list. I learned about it from this blog Cammy – Malta & Gozo and I fall in love with all her stunning photos, I wanted to go there, to see these breathtaking cliffs, the sea in the beautiful shades of blue and green, to feel the power of mother nature, to touch the old buildings and listen to the whispers hidden in them for years.
We got to Malta from Glasgow-Prestwick. It was a crazy day because we left cold and rainy Scotland at 9 am and welcomed to sunny and hot Maltese airport at 4 pm.
Accommodation: two different, booked by Airbnb. We spent three nights in Ħ’Attard (the original place had been changed because of due to destruction after a storm which hit Malta two weeks before our arrival. We lived in the 300-year-old farmhouse and had some funny situations there: we did not have water for a few hours on the first day so we thought that we will not be able to take the shower. But accidentally I discovered that when I turned on the water and let it run the one floor down and at the same time turned on the tap on our floor, the water started to flow in our bathroom and yay! we were saved) and the rest in Is-Siġġiewi (Pied-à-Terre Siggiewi).

DAY 2 MALTA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER – GOZO
Gozo – the small island inhabitant by 30,000 people and its area is 67 square kilometres. We spent here only one day but it was enough to say that if we once again choose to be in this area, we will anchor here, not in Malta. Gozo is more idyllic, the rural climate, calmness, agricultural character of the indentations exerted a great impression on us. We love such aura around us.
DAY 3 MALTA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER – MALTA
Mdina, the first former capital of Malta, called the silent city because it is very peaceful here. There is so calmly that every now and then you can hear the echo of your own words. There is no vehicular traffic in Mdina, so you do not take in here the sounds of horns, engines and car noise. Does not it sound appealing?
We just lost ourselves for a moment in this place, wandered narrow streets and enjoyed the silence.
And of course, we found the best place with the most delicious ftira, coffee and pastries – Cafe Santa Lucia.
Then we visited Popeye Village and the majestic Dingli Cliffs.
DAY 4 MALTA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER – MALTA
We changed our accommodation that day so before leaving the first one we visited beautiful San Anton Gardens and then Blue Grotto.
We planned to see Blue Grotto from the boat but it was too windy and everything was cancelled. These caves which have been carved by the sea are the island’s greatest attraction. Blue Grotto can be admired from the very top, from the viewpoint and yes, it is breathtaking.
DAY 5 MALTA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER – COMINO
Between Malta and Gozo lies Comino (2,8 km2). This small island is practically uninhabited, it is inhabited by one family. Its main asset is crystal-blue water. For the first time in my life, I saw such a beautiful colour of the sea in real. The main attraction is Blue Lagoon which brings a lot of tourists to this small island.
DAY 6 MALTA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER – VALETTA
Valletta – I am in love with this city, all these narrow, steep streets, a sandy shade of architecture, colourful balconies, cats hid in the alleys, beautiful panorama. It enchanted me with its appearance, dignity, secrets hidden in the walls and friendly locals.
We started that day with coffee and ice-creams in Amorino , ate delicious ftira ( it’s the best sandwich I have ever eaten) from The Submarine during lunchtime and when we got hungry in the afternoon.
DAY 7 MALTA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER – MALTA
Marsaxlokk – an old small fishing village, known from colourful boats called luzzu.
What do you think about Malta? Isn’t it a beautiful place to have a wedding of your dream?
I’m a wedding photographer based in Scotland, but I would love to visit Malta, Gozo, Comino again.
