This time, I’m posting something different on my blog! Something that arose in my head during one of my long winter walks along the sea. The sound of the sea, the wind, and beautiful sunrises helped me create the picture of an editorial with boho wedding dresses at the Backhouse Rossie Estate wedding venue in Fife.
In a conversation with Oscar Lili, one of the best bridal shops in Edinburgh, I asked about their new collection, their inspiration, tips for brides, and how they want brides to feel in their gowns!

1. Tell us about your new collection
The 2022 collection is perfect for the bride looking for an understated and elegant Boho wedding look, with soft silhouettes in natural fabrics that are effortless to wear on her wedding day. We have brought an ethical edge to the new collection using sustainable fabrics and manufacturing techniques to provide beautiful, luxury bridal wear for the eco-conscious bride.
2. How do you decide on the names of your collections?
Our styles are named after the women who inspire us and the aesthetic/essence of that particular dress. We love working with clients to design customised bridal looks from scratch, and often when we create a new design for a bride we then work from this to make a sample dress for the boutique which is named after her. It’s a great way to remember all of our lovely clients.
3. Where did your inspiration come from?
Our new designs are inspired by nature and playful textures, combining romantic foliage patterns and 3D lace with airy, chiffon and tulle fabrics.
4. Any tips for brides trying to decide on the right wedding dress?
We encourage our brides to get creative when looking for their perfect dress, to explore different silhouettes and fabrics. You never know how a dress will look until you’ve tried it on. so be open-minded — you might be surprised when “the one” turns out to be completely different from what you imagined.
5. How do you want your clients to feel when wearing your wedding dresses?
We love effortless bridal wear that gives our brides the freedom to express themselves. We want our clients to feel like the best version of themselves on their wedding day and we use luxury, natural fabrics where possible to ensure our dresses don’t just look but feel amazing. All of our designs are made-to-measure which also gives the best fit possible.
6. How did you come to be a bridal designer?
I have always been passionate about fashion and learned how to sew from a young age, so it was natural for me to get into fashion design. I started off creating evening wear, gradually progressing to bridal and now design for my own bridal collection “Liliana Dabic” and most recently Oscar Lili where I love creating separates for brides to mix & match as well bridal gowns.
7. If you weren’t designing wedding dresses, what do you think you would be doing?
I would have to stay in a job where I can use my creativity and have always loved the idea of being an Interior designer.
