Kylena and Zachary’s destination wedding at Scottish Castle near Edinburgh, Neidpath Castle.
Design/Vibe/Vision of your wedding day
The theme for our wedding day was “Game of Thrones” meets “The Tudors” meets “The Outlander” – very moody, very aesthetic, all of the guests were in black – just the groom and the bride were in different colours – the colours for the wedding were black, gold, and burgundy.
Bridesmaid Dresses / Groomsman attire
Bridesmaids – Black velvet dresses with Tudor-inspired jewellery – gold crosses, daggers, pearls and garnet
Groomsmen – black suit black tie – burgundy socks
Any special details?
My father hand-scribed the menus for each plate – it was old calligraphy style with names and wax seals. The style was very Tudor – with the dagger wax seal, garnet, pearl and gold jewellery. My wedding dress from Paloma Blanca was very regal with a lovely dramatic veil for flare.
The cake – two-tier black with a gold band on the second tier and floral etching on the bottom with a burgundy peony and Scottish thistle. The table for the dinner was decorated with a lot of candles.
The planning process of your wedding/elopement: what was the most stressful and which part did you enjoy the most?
I have enjoyed planning the theme and little details the most. I love the little details. Gold glistening in candlelight – a dagger wax seal in burgundy – I love the history of Mary Queen of Scots and Queen Elizabeth Tudor which I have taken inspiration from for all of the looks and the vibe. It adds an element of magic that Queen Mary actually stayed at Neidpath Castle during her procession through Scotland.
